Peskov noted that this incident also concerns Trump, as it aims to undermine his efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. “I would like to remind you of Zelensky's Christmas address and his words directed at Putin. This is not only an attack on Putin but also on Trump,” he added. The press secretary emphasized that the Russian military is ready to respond to such threats.

In response to claims that the drone attack on Putin's residence did not take place, Peskov expressed dissatisfaction. “Zelensky and some Western media are trying to deny this, but this is a completely absurd statement. There was indeed a mass drone attack, which was successfully repelled thanks to the coordinated work of the air defense system. As for the found debris, that’s more for our military,” he noted.

Furthermore, Peskov reported that Russia intends to harden its position in negotiations regarding Ukraine.

He added that there remains a trusting nature of communication between the presidents of Russia and the USA, despite such provocations. According to him, “acts of state terrorism” will not affect the level of this dialogue.

The day after the incident, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Ukraine attacked Putin's residence with drones and warned that Russia would change its negotiating position. In response, Vladimir Zelensky denied this claim and stated that Russia is preparing strikes on government buildings in Kyiv. The Russian Ministry of Defense also issued a press release with information about the number of drones involved.

Donald Trump, who at that time was meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, informed reporters that he learned about the attack from Putin and expressed dissatisfaction, adding that he halted the supply of “Tomahawks” to Ukraine.
