President Zelensky also noted that the possibility of providing short-term security guarantees for 15 years with an option for extension is currently being considered.
“I told him that we are already at war, and it has been going on for almost 15 years. Therefore, we would like the guarantees to be more extended. We would like to consider the possibility of 30, 40, or even 50 years. This could be a historic decision for President Trump. He promised to think about it,” the Ukrainian leader added.
On December 28, a meeting took place between Zelensky and Trump in Florida. Following the negotiations, the President of Ukraine reported that the peace plan had reached 90% agreement, and security guarantees from the U.S. were at 100%. However, the details of these guarantees remain unclear. Both presidents also noted that the issue of the ownership of the Donbas regions is still unresolved.
