According to information from foreign sources, former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after the overthrow of his regime, found refuge in Russia. The New York Times reports that Assad and his family are currently living in Moscow, leading a secluded lifestyle under the protection of Russian security services.

As the publication claims, at the beginning of their stay in Russia, the Assad family settled in one of the expensive hotels in the capital and then moved between several residences — from elite apartments in the Moscow-City business center to a private house in a prestigious area of the Moscow region. It is also reported that the former president was seen as a VIP guest in one of the capital's restaurants, which is popular among the Russian elite.

However, the official authorities of Russia do not disclose information about the status or living conditions of the former Syrian leader. Information about the "luxurious life" of the Assad family is based on journalistic sources and eyewitness accounts but lacks official confirmation.

Bashar al-Assad, who led Syria for more than twenty years, played an important role as an ally of Moscow in the Middle East. His stay in Russia after the political changes in Syria has attracted significant attention from international media and has become a subject of active discussions.
