Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, has approved a bill that lowers the age required for a citizen of the country to take the oath from 18 to 14 years. This information was published on the official website of legal acts, reports RIA Novosti.

This law is aimed at increasing patriotism among youth and ensuring a more conscious acceptance of obligations to uphold the Constitution and laws of Russia. The initiative was presented by a group of deputies led by Leonid Kalashnikov, the chairman of the committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration, and interaction with compatriots in the State Duma.

It is important to note that if an individual refuses to take the oath or does not complete this procedure within a year after the decision to grant citizenship, such a decision will be considered invalid. Additionally, the failure to take the oath will be automatically annulled in the event of the citizen's death.
