According to the initiators, under the current Constitution, a candidate for the position of a Supreme Court judge can be a citizen of Kyrgyzstan aged between 40 and 70, possessing a higher legal education and at least 15 years of work experience in the legal field, including at least 5 years as a judge, of which 3 years must be in the first instance and 2 years in the second.
A judge has the right to retire if their work experience is at least 20 years, regardless of reaching the general retirement age.Additionally, the draft law stipulates that judges who have reached retirement age and retired due to length of service will receive a pension on general terms, in accordance with the legislation on state pension social insurance.
The amount of the supplement to the assigned pension will be calculated as follows:
- for a service period of 15 to 20 years – the supplement will be 1.5 times the assigned pension;
- for a service period of 20 to 25 years – the supplement will be equal to 2 times the assigned pension;
- for a service period of 25 years and more – the supplement will be 2.5 times the assigned pension.
