A Kyrgyzstani Miraculously Avoided Prison for Cutting Down 30 Birches in Kamchatka

Recently, a court trial concluded in the Kamchatka region of Russia against a citizen of Kyrgyzstan who, upon arriving for work, cut down more than 30 birch trees. This was reported by the publication M-MEDIA.

During the court session, the young man admitted his guilt and paid 53,000 rubles (approximately 59,000 soms) as compensation for the damage. His remorse and positive character references played a key role in achieving reconciliation, which allowed him to avoid criminal punishment.

The court made the following decisions:

The judges noted that strict penalties are imposed in Russia for illegal logging: fines of up to 3 million rubles or imprisonment for up to seven years.
