According to information published on December 31 in The Wall Street Journal, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States concluded that Ukrainian drones likely targeted a military facility in the region, but not Putin's residence. This conclusion was made possible by the American intelligence's ability to monitor Russian airspace using satellite and radar technologies.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe presented this data to U.S. President Donald Trump. In response, Trump posted a link to an editorial in the New York Post, which claimed that Ukraine was unlikely to have struck Putin's residence. He accompanied the post with the headline "Putin's 'attack' statements show that Russia is the one disrupting peace."

At the same time, Moscow claimed that 91 Ukrainian drones attempted to attack Putin's residence, which the Russian president informed Trump about during a phone call on December 29. In response, Trump expressed disappointment and told reporters that "now is not the time for that."

Meanwhile, Ukraine denied the information about an attempted attack, emphasizing that its Armed Forces operate solely against legitimate military targets on Russian territory in response to strikes on Ukraine.
