- During the discussion at the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Finance, Budget, Entrepreneurship, and Competition Development on February 9, 2026, deputy Aisarakhan Abdibaeva inquired whether the republic can independently meet its milk needs.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev informed her that the country is capable of providing this product for itself.

The deputy also asked about the countries to which milk is exported, to which the deputy minister replied that the main destination is Kazakhstan.

Abdibaeva expressed dissatisfaction that raw milk is exported to Kazakhstan at a price of 40 soms per liter, and then, after processing, it is returned to Kyrgyzstan at a price of 120-130 soms per liter.

In response, the deputy minister noted that Kazakhstan does not purchase raw milk from Kyrgyzstan but only acquires pasteurized products.

“Our citizens do not drink natural milk but use diluted powder. Especially in the capital, we consume milk whose composition is unknown. It is necessary to raise the purchase prices for milk and sell it in specialized stores,” the deputy emphasized.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh No. 1950-VII dated March 14, 2024, regarding “Regulation of Purchase Prices for Milk” (for approval).
