The project of the Upper Naryn Hydropower Cascade was discussed by the energy ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.

The meeting of the energy ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Russia took place to discuss a number of key issues in the fuel and energy complex. It was attended by Sergey Tsivilev, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, and his Kyrgyz colleagues, including First Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev and Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev, as well as representatives from the company PJSC "RusHydro."

The main focus of the meeting was on the Upper Naryn Cascade of Hydropower Plants project. The parties discussed ways to resolve issues related to this project and agreed on further steps for its implementation. During the discussion, the possibility of creating an industry order for the fuel and energy complex was also considered, which, according to Sergey Tsivilev, is an important direction for further bilateral cooperation.

In addition, the meeting confirmed information about the upcoming meeting of the energy ministers of the SCO countries, which is scheduled for June 2026 in Bishkek.

Previously, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, stated that work on the construction of the Upper Naryn Cascade of Hydropower Plants would not resume until the debt dispute with RusHydro was resolved.
