At the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh held on February 26, 2026, Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova proposed an initiative for the active development of organic agriculture in Kyrgyzstan.
She noted that uncontrolled use of agrochemicals and mineral fertilizers could lead to soil degradation, which in turn threatens to turn fertile agricultural lands into barren territories.

According to Mavlyanova, the transition to organic farming can not only improve the export of environmentally friendly products but also accelerate regional development and reduce the level of external migration among the population.

As a first step towards developing the organic sector, the deputy suggested utilizing idle rain-fed (non-irrigated) lands by installing drip irrigation systems. This would allow for the efficient use of limited water resources and increase yields without the use of chemicals.
