In recent months, there has been an increase in cases of false reports of terrorist acts in the Kyrgyz Republic, prompting an appeal from the State Committee for National Security (GKNB). The special service noted that such reports come from both adults and schoolchildren.
In response to these incidents, law enforcement agencies are taking measures based on the real threat to the life and health of citizens. They conduct thorough checks to prevent possible negative consequences. However, these actions divert law enforcement resources from their primary tasks and may impact the state budget.
The GKNB statement emphasizes: "A false report of terrorism is considered a threat to public safety. They disrupt the normal order of life and the operation of organizations, which may lead to the need for the evacuation of citizens."
According to information, schools, entertainment, and shopping centers are most often the victims of such crimes. The crime is considered complete from the moment a false report of a terrorist act is received, and it can lead to serious consequences, including imprisonment. Criminal liability is provided for this under Article 259 "Knowingly False Report of an Act of Terrorism" of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.
"If such actions are committed by minors, parents are responsible for their actions," the GKNB added.
The special service urged parents to conduct explanatory work with their children and monitor their behavior. Adults are also advised to refrain from actions that may harm society and the state for personal or others' interests.
