During a meeting led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, plans were announced indicating that by 2026, Uzbekistan intends to produce 6,000 units of machinery, and by 2027, this number will rise to 14,000 units per year.
The main strategy of Tashkent will be the aggressive increase of localization and reduction of product prices. For example, the price of tractors with a power of 80 hp has already been set at 259 million soums, which is significantly cheaper than foreign manufacturers, whose prices are around 300 million soums. In the coming years, it is planned that the level of localization for produced trailer equipment will reach 60-65%, and for self-propelled machinery — up to 35%.
To achieve these ambitious goals, the government of Uzbekistan is launching comprehensive financial support:
In the current year, 400 million dollars will be allocated for financing the purchase of modern equipment; Farmers will be provided with 1 trillion soums in the form of direct subsidies; "Agrobank" will offer 3.9 trillion soums in the form of preferential loans; 200 billion soums will be directed to support the localization of production.
In addition, emphasis will be placed on education and service maintenance. In collaboration with the German company CLAAS and the Turin Polytechnic University, a specialized academy will be established to train up to 1,000 specialists annually. It is also planned to open agro-service zones in each region of Uzbekistan, where farmers can receive a wide range of services, including consultations and soil analysis.
The experience of certain districts has already demonstrated that increasing the level of mechanization to 90% contributes to a 25% increase in the yield of cotton, wheat, and rice. This confirms the economic viability of the implemented policies. The modernization of the agricultural sector will not only provide the domestic market with affordable machinery but will also create significant export potential in the region.
