In Kyrgyzstan, 1.25 million hectares of land have been allocated for the harvest

In Kyrgyzstan, the active phase of spring fieldwork has begun. As of early March 2026, the total area allocated for agricultural crops is 1.25 million hectares, which is an increase compared to the previous year. Of this area, 818 thousand hectares are irrigated lands, while 432 thousand hectares are rain-fed lands.

Currently, the main work is concentrated in the southern regions and the Chui Valley. The Osh region leads in the pace of land cultivation, with more than 17.7 thousand hectares already plowed. In the Chui region, 9.7 thousand hectares have been processed, and in the Jalal-Abad region, 2.1 thousand hectares. In total, about 30 thousand hectares of arable land have been prepared across the country.

Additionally, in several regions, the sowing of spring cereal crops has begun, with more than 5.5 thousand hectares already allocated. The area designated for wheat is about 2.5 thousand hectares, with the highest activity observed in the farms of the Osh and Chui regions. Barley crops occupy more than 3 thousand hectares. In the Jalal-Abad region, potato planting has also begun, while in Osh, the sowing of vegetable crops is underway.

Agrarians in the Talas, Issyk-Kul, and Naryn regions will start spring sowing later, depending on weather conditions. Relevant agencies are monitoring the progress of fieldwork daily to ensure food security in the country for the new agricultural season.
