The minimum charter capital of banks in Kyrgyzstan will be raised to 3 billion soms.

The Board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has decided on the minimum amounts of authorized and regulatory capital for commercial banks. This resolution was approved on December 29, 2025, under number 2025-П-17/71-2-(NPA).

According to the new document, the minimum authorized capital for new commercial banks, including branches of foreign banks, is set at no less than 3 billion soms.

For existing banks, stages for increasing the minimum authorized capital have been introduced:

For banks that are systemically important, a separate regulation has been established — the minimum authorized capital must be at least 8 billion soms, and this rule will come into effect on July 1, 2027.

It is important to note that this resolution will take effect on January 1, 2026.
