The investigation into the connections of Kazakh officials with financier Jeffrey Epstein began before the official request from deputy Askat Rakhimzhanov to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Kazakhstan's Prosecutor General Berik Asylov confirmed that the agency had already conducted an analysis of these facts, according to information from Exclusive.kz.
“This issue was previously discussed at the global level... Therefore, both the Prosecutor General's Office and other agencies are conducting an investigation to determine whether these facts are true,” he said in a published video on Tengrinews.kz.
It remains unclear whether the results of the investigation will be made public, especially if they involve the names of current officials.
Recall that deputy Askat Rakhimzhanov previously called for an investigation into the connections of former high-ranking officials of Kazakhstan with Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sexual crimes against minors. In his request, he noted that the published materials mention representatives of the political elite of "old Kazakhstan," including former KNB chairman Karim Massimov, who is currently serving a sentence for treason and an attempted coup. Epstein's documents mention his name eight times.
