Andrew is detained on suspicion of committing a public office crime. Previously, law enforcement agencies began discussions with the prosecution regarding the investigation of reports that the prince may have secretly passed documents of the United Kingdom government to Epstein. The police are currently analyzing the information received to determine whether there are grounds for a criminal case and the need for a full-scale investigation.
It is worth noting that in 2019, Andrew was forced to step back from his official duties in the royal family due to the growing scandal related to the Epstein case. This occurred after allegations were made against him by American Virginia Giuffre. The prince is also mentioned in Epstein's documents, one of the recent packages of which contains photographs of him with an unknown young woman lying on the floor. In early December 2025, the new King Charles III stripped Andrew of all his titles.
