- On March 2, 2026, during a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dealing with finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, Deputy Jumabek Salymbekov addressed Deputy Minister of Energy Nasipbek Kerimov with a question regarding the timeline for lifting the existing electricity limits.

In response, Kerimov stated that according to forecasts, the air temperature would soon begin to rise, creating conditions for a transition to the summer energy supply mode.

Salymbekov noted that the imposed restrictions negatively affect small businesses that use electricity in household settings.

He requested a clear answer on whether the restrictions would be lifted in March, to which Kerimov replied that the issue is under consideration.

“We need to analyze electricity consumption, as negative temperatures are currently observed at night,” he noted.

The agenda also included a discussion of a draft agreement on financing between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association concerning the project "Development of the Electricity Market and Integration of Energy Systems (REMIT)," which is pending approval.

Background:

In early November, "NESK" reported a reduction in the electricity connection capacity for household consumers from 5 to 3 kilowatts during peak hours. The operator of the energy system of Kyrgyzstan explained that the restrictions would last until March 2026. Also, in early November, following criticism from the president towards Minister Talaybek Ibraev, the action of the "unlimited" tariff was suspended.
