In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, active renewal and expansion of public transport continues. This was reported by Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev in a podcast by the agency "Kabar".

According to him, based on calculations made in 2021, the city requires about 2500 buses for effective passenger service. Currently, approximately 1436 units are operating on the routes.

The mayor emphasized that the lack of transport is particularly acute during peak hours — in the morning and evening. "We cannot endlessly increase the number of buses, as this may lead to traffic jams. It is unacceptable for 10-20 buses to be at one stop at the same time. Therefore, we strive to optimize schedules and increase the number of buses precisely during these times, adhering to time intervals," added Aibek Junushaliev.

The mayor also announced that in 2026, the purchase of over 600 new "short buses" is planned.
