The Main Department for Road Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has announced that the validity of taxi drivers' licenses will not be extended after February 1, 2026.

Starting February 2, raids will begin in the republic aimed at checking the presence of licenses among taxi drivers. Law enforcement agencies will monitor compliance with the legal norms in the field of taxi service licensing and hold accountable those who do not follow the rules.

To date, more than 7,000 individual taxi drivers and over 300 taxi fleets in the country have already obtained licenses.

The Main Department for Road Traffic Safety strongly recommends that taxi drivers not postpone obtaining their licenses until the last moment. Completing the paperwork before the established deadline will help avoid fines and restrictions on operations after the inspections begin.

It is worth noting that earlier, Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev proposed to the government to postpone the licensing deadlines for taxi services by six months.
