The question of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Kazakhstan in 2026 is on the agenda in Moscow and Astana. This was reported by the Russian ambassador to Kazakhstan, Alexey Borodavkin.

According to him, the visit is expected to take place in May.

“Annual exchanges of visits have already become a tradition, and we are currently coordinating the dates and working on the content of the upcoming negotiations,” he noted, adding that Putin's visit to Kazakhstan will be “one of the brightest pages in the history” of bilateral relations.

In addition, at the end of May 2026, a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (EAEU) will be held in Astana, with the participation of heads of state, including Vladimir Putin.

For his part, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Russia on a state visit in November 2025. During his visit, he invited Putin to visit Kazakhstan for a similar visit in 2026, emphasizing that “it is important not only to have a ceremonial arrangement but also the essence of the relations.”
