At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev reported on the need for budget allocations for the gasification of the population. This proposal has become relevant against the backdrop of an electricity shortage in the country, raising the question of the necessity of using alternative sources such as gas.

According to Ibraev, by the end of 2025, the level of gasification will reach 44%, with 100 kilometers of gas pipelines laid. By 2026, it is expected that the number of new subscribers will increase by 20,000, reaching a total of 444,000, and gas consumption will rise to 520 million cubic meters, nearly doubling the figures from five years ago.

In its report, Gazprom Kyrgyzstan states that annual capital investments amount to 1.5 billion soms; however, this amount is insufficient for full gasification of the population. Therefore, the minister plans to appeal to the president for additional budget allocations to address this issue.

Additionally, he clarified that in 2026, the government intends to carry out gasification in five residential areas: "Ak-Bosogo," "Enesai," "Zher Intymagy," "Birimdik," and "Selection."
