On February 15, 2026, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek sentenced 41-year-old Ernist Zheentaev to six years in prison. He was found guilty under Article 278 Part 3 "Calls for Mass Riots" and Article 332 Part 1 "Manufacturing, Distribution, Transportation, or Mailing of Extremist Materials" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Zheentaev, who worked as a designer for several publications, was detained in November 2025 after a criminal case was initiated against him. His relatives and lawyer now plan to appeal the verdict in higher courts.

Currently, the convicted individual is in the Bishkek detention center.

According to his relatives, his mother, who suffered from a serious illness, passed away on February 27. The family is requesting the court to allow him to attend the funeral, which will take place on February 28 in the village of Temir in the Issyk-Kul region.
