Askat Alagozov, the president's press secretary, published a video message from the mother of Daniil Azhiev, as well as data from a WhatsApp conversation dated January. This statement was made after President Sadyr Japarov acknowledged that the mother of the webcam studio organizer deceived him by taking advantage of his kindness.
The president stated that the woman contacted him via messenger, convincing him of her family's difficult situation and promising that her son would change. After the signing of the pardon act, Azhiev was seen leaving the colony by helicopter, which caused public outrage.
In response to the questions raised about the course of communication, Alagozov provided official clarifications:
“In early January, Daniil Azhiev's mother appealed to President Sadyr Japarov with a request for her son's pardon. Due to the doubts and discussions that arose on social media about how she was able to contact the president through his personal WhatsApp number, we are publishing the video message and a screenshot of the phone number from which the message was sent.”
