A tragedy occurred at Issyk-Kul – a woman died after committing self-immolation. According to information from the press service of the Issyk-Kul region, the incident took place on February 25, 2026. The Ak-Suu District Police Department received information that the 17-year-old daughter of a resident of the village of Ak-Suu, born in 2009, was 16 weeks pregnant. Her mother, M.A., born in 1985, was informed about the situation.
The investigative authorities conducted an interrogation of the minor. However, the mother, M.A., refused to participate in the process as a legal representative, explaining her decision with the words: “My daughter is pregnant, how can I look people in the eye?”. As a result, the girl was interrogated in the presence of an employee from the district department for family affairs and child protection.
That same evening, around 9:00 PM, M.A. left the house, citing the need to go to the store for drinks. Unable to withstand the emotional strain, she doused herself with gasoline and set herself on fire.
After that, the woman was taken to the Issyk-Kul Regional Hospital, where she died from her injuries. A forensic examination has been appointed, and the case has been registered with the Ak-Suu District Police Department. Investigative activities are ongoing, as reported by the department.
