Deputy Talaybek Sarybashov raised the issue of the high level of accidents, especially on the Bishkek—Osh highway, noting that serious traffic accidents often occur there due to aggressive driving and high speeds.
Urmambetov noted that last year the number of accidents increased by about 50%. As a result of such incidents, around 900 people lost their lives, which exceeds the figures for 2022 by more than 100 cases.
Previously, the main cause of traffic accidents was considered to be poor road conditions and insufficient infrastructure. However, as Urmambetov emphasized, with the improvement of the road network, driver behavior has become the determining factor. In this regard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is implementing a system for automatic recording of violations and actively expanding the network of road cameras to enhance safety on the roads.
