Winter Olympics. Japanese figure skaters set a new world record for points
At the 2026 Olympic Games, the Japanese pair of figure skaters, Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, won the gold medal in pairs skating, setting a historic world record in the free program with a score of 158.13 points.

This achievement surpassed the previous record set by Russian athletes Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Galliamov, which was 157.46 points and had stood since 2022.

Riku and Ryuichi have already twice been vice-champions of the Olympic Games in team events, as well as winning gold and silver twice at the World Championships.

In total, the score of the Japanese duo amounted to 231.24.
