Myktybek Orolbai Uulu Sets New Record in UFC

The Kyrgyz mixed martial artist Myktybek Orolbay uulu has set a record in the UFC for the most successful takedowns in a single fight in the welterweight division (77 kg).

This outstanding achievement was recorded on March 15 at the UFC Fight Night 269 tournament held in Las Vegas. In the bout against American Chris Curtis, Orolbay uulu executed 19 successful takedowns, marking a new milestone in the history of the welterweight division.

From the very first minutes of the fight, it became clear that the Kyrgyz fighter was struggling to counter the southpaw. Right at the beginning of the match, just a minute in, he took Curtis down and began to control the situation. In the remaining time, he managed to execute another 18 successful takedowns.

As for the absolute UFC record for the number of takedowns in a single fight, it belongs to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who achieved 21 takedowns in a bout against Abel Trujillo in 2013 in the lightweight division (70 kg).

In second place on this list is Merab Dvalishvili, a bantamweight fighter (61 kg), who in 2025 achieved 20 successful takedowns in a fight against Cory Sandhagen.
