
The breaststroke swimming competition at a distance of 100 meters took place on January 14 and 15. In the preliminary heats, Denis showed the second-best time, which allowed him to confidently advance to the finals. The final took place on the morning of January 15, where he finished with a time of 59.55 seconds, earning him second place and a silver medal.
The first place was taken by American Matthias Vann, who recorded a time of 59.45 seconds.
The Pro Swim Series stage in Austin served as a platform for many of the world's top swimmers and is significant in preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games. The tournament features Olympic champions from the USA, the French team led by Léon Marchand, as well as the national team of Kazakhstan, which is represented by nine athletes participating in the competitions and training.
Additionally, Denis Petrashov plans to compete in the 50 and 200 meters breaststroke events during the tournament.
Representatives of the coaching staff of the Kyrgyzstan national team emphasize that participation in international competitions of this level is critically important for improving the athlete's training. The State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports also expressed its readiness to support the continuation of the training process in the USA.
