This statement was a response to information from The Wall Street Journal, which reported that Larijani had proposed starting negotiations with Washington through intermediaries.
Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had mentioned the possibility of resuming negotiations with Iran, but he did not specify which Iranian officials were involved in these discussions or what issues were being raised.
Ali Larijani is one of the key representatives of the Iranian leadership who managed to remain in office after the early days of the war when the Supreme Leader of the country, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed. Currently, the country is governed by a temporary council.
