Two oil tankers collided off the coast of Istanbul

On Tuesday, two oil tankers registered in Azerbaijan and Turkey collided in the Sea of Marmara. This was reported by the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, adding that rescue services have already been dispatched to the scene, as informed by RIA Novosti.

Hurricane winds were observed in Istanbul on the same day, with speeds reaching 75 kilometers per hour, leading to the cancellation of several ferry services.

The ministry clarified that the 141-meter-long Azerbaijani-flagged tanker Kalbajar collided with the 115-meter-long Turkish tanker Alatepe. The incident occurred in the Kucukcekmece area.

A tugboat and rescue teams were sent to assist the vessels, the ministry added.
