According to information provided by the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the missile was intercepted by NATO's air defense and missile defense forces stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean. The agency emphasized that any threats to the territory and airspace of the country will be taken very seriously, and all necessary measures will be taken.

Turkey is also negotiating with Iran to clarify all the details of the incident. According to Reuters, Ankara is seeking to avoid being drawn into a broader conflict concerning Iran.

This is already the third case of intercepting an Iranian ballistic missile over Turkey this month: the previous incidents occurred on March 4 and 9.

According to information from the publication Savunma Sanayi and other Turkish media, it is believed that the target of the missile could have been Incirlik Air Base in Adana; however, there has been no official confirmation from the Turkish Ministry of Defense. Meanwhile, Anadolu reported sounds of sirens at the Incirlik base.
