In response to the incident, the Iranian ambassador to Turkey, Mohammad Hasan Habibollazadeh, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Turkish officials expressed their concerns regarding the missile launch from Iran. According to Daily Sabah, during the meeting, Turkish authorities demanded explanations from the Iranian side and emphasized the seriousness of the situation.
According to sources, Turkey hopes to prevent similar incidents in the future and emphasized the need to avoid actions that exacerbate tensions in the region.
This incident marked the second case of intercepting an Iranian missile over Turkey since the beginning of the conflict between the US and Israel and Iran. The first case occurred on March 4, when a missile was also shot down by NATO's air defense system. It was reported that it was likely heading towards Cyprus but deviated from its course. One of the fragments fell in the Dörtyol area of Hatay province, but no one was injured, as stated by the Turkish Ministry of Defense. Iran denied the fact of launching a missile towards Turkey at that time.
