“The situation in the market for new cars and light commercial vehicles has ceased to be unpredictable, and the decline in January was anticipated by all participants. The only question was how significant this decrease would be. The 16% reduction was a result of previously implemented measures,” the association noted.
The AEB suggests that due to the increase in the recycling fee in December and January, as well as the rise in VAT and new import regulations from China, further declines in the import of new cars into Russia can be expected in the coming months. This will result in buyers being offered cars that were imported earlier, as well as vehicles produced in Russia.
