In 2026, it is planned to sow 418,764 hectares in the Chui region, of which 269,698 hectares will be irrigated. For this purpose, 850 million cubic meters of water is expected to be supplied, which will ensure 4-5 times irrigation. This was reported by Sanjar Zhantaev, the first deputy representative of the president in the region, at a regional meeting.
According to him, in 2025, 626.42 million cubic meters of water were used for irrigation. "Spring fieldwork will begin soon, and we need to ensure irrigation water, prepare quality seeds, repair equipment, purchase fertilizers and fuel, as well as train agronomists in modern agrotechnological methods," noted Zhantaev.
The region has 269 reservoirs with a total design capacity of 253.145 million cubic meters, of which 168.81 million cubic meters of water has currently been accumulated. In 2026, 120 million soms from the state budget will be allocated for the restoration and repair of irrigation facilities, while last year, 293.4 million soms were directed to the same purposes.
The allocated funds will be used for the repair of 579 hydraulic structures, 516 water accounting posts, one pumping station, mechanical cleaning of 609 kilometers of canals, and manual cleaning of 740 kilometers of field canals, as well as for the repair of 231.5 kilometers of canals.
Also, for 2026, autumn sowing works are planned on 95,282 hectares and the preparation of 10,625 hectares for early sowing.
