The Cabinet of Ministers has updated the rules for electricity usage, which have been in effect since 2012, with the aim of adapting legislation to the development of renewable energy sources (RES) and microgeneration, as well as enhancing the safety of the energy system.

One of the most significant changes is the ban on the use of autonomous power supply sources if their connection does not prevent the supply of voltage to external networks.

This ban is aimed at minimizing the risks of accidents, short circuits, and threats to workers who are on power lines.

Additionally, the Cabinet has revised definitions and norms in the field of RES and microgeneration. This includes clarifying the status of electricity suppliers, the procedure for accounting for generation and consumption, as well as requirements for the equipment used.

All installations that generate electricity from solar, wind, hydro, or biomass energy must be integrated into a centralized accounting and monitoring system. Commercial meters are required to record every kilowatt, including reverse supply to the grid.

The new rules apply to both households and industrial facilities using microgeneration. According to the updated document, suppliers must conduct calculations based on actual consumption and generation volumes, as well as provide accurate billing documents.
