- The EEC Council approved measures exempting certain types of beef from import customs duties for EAEU countries for the year 2026.

The volumes of duty-free imports are as follows: 7,500 tons for Armenia, 7,500 tons for Belarus, 5,000 tons for Kazakhstan, 5,000 tons for Kyrgyzstan, and 100,000 tons for Russia.

“The adopted customs regulation measures are a balanced solution that will support the meat processing industry due to their targeted nature, which implies confirmation of purpose.

At the same time, they will not negatively impact the domestic beef market and will not create additional risks for the implementation of investment projects in the livestock sector,” noted Andrey Slepynev, Minister for Trade of the EEC.

He added that previously applied tariff preferences helped ensure the availability of meat products for the population and restrained the growth of consumer prices.

The deficit of beef in EAEU countries is traditionally compensated by supplies from Latin America and India.

The new decision will come into effect ten calendar days after its official publication and will apply to legal relations arising from January 1, 2026.
