On the air of the radio, the chief specialist of the Department of Statistical Censuses and Geoinformation Systems of the National Statistical Committee, Baktybek Orozbaev, shared details about the preparation for the agricultural census scheduled for 2026.

Orozbaev noted that it has been 22–23 years since the last census. The last census, conducted in 2002–2003, consisted of two phases: first, information on crop production was collected, followed by livestock production. “Since then, significant changes have occurred,” he added.

According to the specialist, official statistical data often do not reflect the actual state of affairs in agriculture. “Some plots that are documented as arable land are actually already occupied by perennial crops. At the same time, uprooted perennial crops can be used as arable land. Moreover, a significant portion of the land has already been built up with residential houses,” he explained.

Orozbaev also emphasized that modern agriculture is actively adopting new technologies. “Producers are using modern equipment, fertilizers, and new generation chemicals, as well as utilizing their own warehouses for storing products and chemicals. Only such a census can provide a complete picture for the development of the agricultural sector and attracting investments,” he concluded.
