From February 28 to March 2, 2026, large-scale raid activities were conducted at Lake Son-Kul to prevent illegal fishing. According to the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the inspection was carried out by employees of the state enterprise "Son-Kul Fishery".
Inspectors examined the water area of the lake and the coastal zone. As a result of the three-day raid, no cases of poaching were recorded. Additionally, no abandoned synthetic nets, which pose a serious threat to the ecosystem of the water body, were found.
The Department of Fisheries emphasizes that the absence of violations indicates an increase in the responsibility of fishermen and the effectiveness of protective measures. Nevertheless, the agency urges citizens to strictly adhere to the legislation and assist in the fight against illegal fishing to preserve the unique nature of the lake.
Similar raids are conducted regularly throughout the republic to protect fish stocks and ensure ecological balance.
