Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have announced the launch of a multimodal transport corridor that will connect China with Europe through Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Turkey, bypassing the territory of Kazakhstan. This information was announced by the Executive Committee of the CIS.

The project will start with a test run, during which ten trucks with cargo will travel from Uzbekistan to China through Tajikistan.

The transport ministers of the two countries have agreed to launch the new route and decided to implement an electronic permit issuance system for international freight transportation.

There are also plans to increase the capacity at the Jartepa - Sarazm border checkpoint. A logistics center will be established at the border, which will be able to process up to 100 trucks daily and expedite the documentation process.

Earlier, the publication Kursiv Uzbekistan reported that the project company "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan" signed an agreement worth $4.7 billion to finance the construction of a new railway.
