The pilot phase of this initiative will begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will continue until the second quarter of 2027.
During this time, a platform for the digital som will be developed, and tests of P2P transfers without intermediaries will be conducted.
The implementation of this project will be financed by the National Bank's funds.
Earlier, Melis Turgunbaev, the head of the NB KR, mentioned the need for legislative consolidation of the digital som as the third form of national currency, alongside cash and non-cash money. This will allow individuals and legal entities to make transfers between cash and digital currencies.
