According to information announced on January 14 by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, the country plans to eliminate its status as an energy-deficient nation in the first quarter of 2027.

Currently, the ministry is actively working on 81 projects with a total capacity of 15.3 GW, for which investments amounting to $25 billion will be required. Some of these projects are being financed through private investments, using the electricity market mechanism.

According to estimates by the Ministry of Energy, the completion of current projects will fully meet the economy's electricity needs by the end of the first quarter of 2027, which will remove Kazakhstan from the category of energy-deficient countries. By 2029, a transition to a sustainable electricity surplus is expected.
