- The Ministry of Energy expects a significant reduction in the cost of electricity purchased from renewable sources (RES) by 30% after the introduction of auctions. This information is provided in an analytical report on the draft law regarding amendments to the legislation on RES, which is scheduled for discussion in the Jogorku Kenesh in January 2026.

According to current legislation, all electricity generated using RES and not consumed by the owner of the installation must be purchased by the energy company appointed by the Ministry of Energy.

The current tariff for electricity purchased from RES is 4.42 soms per kWh.

In its analysis, the Ministry of Energy indicates that the implementation of the auction principle will allow for a reduction in this tariff, referencing the successful experience of Kazakhstan, where a similar reduction has already been achieved.

Thus, the ministry expects that the tariff will decrease to 3.09 soms per kWh.
