- According to the new proposals, power plants operating on renewable energy sources (RES) will be able to set tariffs in foreign currency. This provision is included in the draft law from the Ministry of Energy, which is scheduled for discussion in the calendar plan of the Jogorku Kenesh for January 2026.

According to the project, the maximum tariff for RES power plants will be established in foreign currency within the framework of an investment agreement and/or a public-private partnership agreement.

This concerns the tariff at which the state energy company purchases electricity from RES facilities. According to the current version of the legislation, this tariff is 4.42 soms per kilowatt-hour.
