- Starting from December 31, 2025, new rules for the distribution of export quotas for meat from Kazakhstan to third countries and EAEU countries will come into effect, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported on January 7.

This regulation will be in effect until June 30, 2026. The total volume of the quota for the export of beef is set at 20,000 tons.

The main goal of introducing these temporary restrictions is to ensure food security, stimulate deep processing of products, and create transparent statistics and traceability of meat origin.

“Measures were taken in response to the practice where some companies and small slaughterhouses were effectively engaged in the resale of livestock without fattening and without developing their own production capacities. This created conditions for speculative operations and led to distortions in the actual balances of supply and demand, which, in turn, contributed to the rise in domestic prices,” the ministry clarified.
