- On December 31, 2025, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, sent an official address to the leaders of the countries participating in the Eurasian Economic Union, announcing the start of Kazakhstan's chairmanship from January 1, 2026.

In his address, Tokayev noted:

“Dear colleagues!

Starting January 1, 2026, the Republic of Kazakhstan will assume the chairmanship in the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The past year has been significant for our union, as we confidently entered the second decade of its existence. Despite the global challenges of recent years, our countries continue to demonstrate positive trends in the economy.

In the upcoming period, our common goal is to enhance the effectiveness of integration and strengthen the significance of the EAEU.

From 2026, the implementation of the Declaration on the further development of economic processes within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union will begin, covering the period until 2030 and beyond until 2045 under the title “Eurasian Economic Path.” We will pay special attention to the goals and objectives outlined in this strategic document.

During the chairmanship, Kazakhstan proposes to focus on key areas.

Economic integration serves as an important tool for achieving real results within the EAEU: creating new industries, modern jobs, implementing innovative technologies, and forming free trade. Kazakhstan intends to fully support the achievement of the tasks set in this area during its chairmanship.

I am convinced that only through joint efforts can we achieve the set goals and ensure the dynamic development of the economies of the EAEU member states, as well as strengthen the overall potential of our integration union.”
