The President of Kazakhstan addressed the heads of state of the EAEU.
In his address, Tokayev noted that the past year has been an important stage for the EAEU. Despite global challenges, the member countries continue to demonstrate positive economic results. The President emphasized that one of the main tasks for the near future is the optimization of integration processes, as well as strengthening the potential and attractiveness of the union.
Starting in 2026, the EAEU will begin implementing a declaration concerning the further development of economic processes until 2030 and for the period up to 2045, titled "Eurasian Economic Path."
During Kazakhstan's presidency, it is planned to focus on several key areas. One of them will be the use of artificial intelligence technologies to facilitate the development of economic integration. The President noted that AI is already capable of predicting trade flows and analyzing the impact of customs duties and trade agreements on the economies of the countries.
Tokayev proposed to sign a joint statement on the responsible development of artificial intelligence within the EAEU during the Eurasian Economic Forum, which will be held in 2026 in Astana.
In his address, the president also emphasized the development of the EAEU as a logistics center for Eurasia. He stressed the urgent need to improve transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as to develop international transport corridors and multimodal transport. In this regard, it was proposed to create an integrated system for managing cargo flows using artificial intelligence.
Among the priority tasks, the development of digitalization in industry and the agro-industrial complex was also mentioned, as well as promoting cooperation for the production of competitive products and the implementation of digital solutions and AI in enterprises and farms.
Tokayev also highlighted the necessity of barrier-free trade. He emphasized that customs and state regulations should not be used as tools of pressure on the member states of the union. To quickly identify potential trade barriers, it is proposed to use AI technologies to monitor legislative initiatives of the participating countries.
The President also noted the importance of expanding economic cooperation of the EAEU with external partners. In 2025, agreements were signed to create a free trade zone with Mongolia and Indonesia, as well as an economic partnership agreement with the UAE. A promising direction is the development of ties with the Global South countries, Arab nations, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
Kazakhstan, according to the president, aims to facilitate the achievement of all tasks set on the EAEU agenda during its presidency.
