The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has signed a new law that introduces a ban on the promotion of LGBT. This announcement was made by the press service of Akorda.
The document, known as the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Archival Affairs and Restrictions on the Distribution of Illegal Content," is the result of efforts aimed at combating unacceptable content.
The bill passed its second and final reading in the Senate on December 18, where it was approved. It prohibits the dissemination of information related to pedophilia and non-traditional sexual orientation in public places, including the media, telecommunications networks, and internet resources.
Previously, a petition from citizens was initiated in the country calling for a legislative ban on the promotion of LGBT.
