In Uzbekistan, authorities plan to strengthen penalties for early and consanguineous marriages. The Ministry of Justice has developed a draft law titled "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts Aimed at Further Strengthening the Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Women and Children."

As part of this document, significant tightening of responsibility for marrying individuals who have not reached the established marriage age is proposed. A ban on marital unions between relatives on the collateral line is also planned, including:

Penalties may include fines or corrective labor for up to two years.

The only exceptions will be cases where one of the spouses is an adopted child or has been adopted, provided there is no actual blood relation between the partners.

Currently, the family code prohibits marriages between relatives in the direct ascending and descending lines, as well as between full and half-siblings, and between adoptive parents and adopted children.
