However, this will come with responsibility.

In Kyrgyzstan, there are plans to abolish monetary fines for students for missing classes. This information emerged in the Jogorku Kenesh the day before.

During the discussion of Gulzat Isamatova's candidacy for the position of Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev proposed to end the practice of imposing fines on university students for absence from classes.

“How can we raise the level of education among students if we simply punish them financially? Universities have forgotten their main task — teaching. I urge to stop this in universities. Academic disciplinary measures should be applied instead,” emphasized Bekeshev.

Gulzat Isamatova agreed with the deputy's opinion and promised to create a commission to discuss the possibility of abolishing fines.

It is worth noting that there has been repeated dissatisfaction in society regarding fees for absences and high prices for contracts at universities in the country. Over the past two years, the cost of obtaining higher education in Kyrgyzstan has significantly increased.
