“Men find themselves at a disadvantage”
At the IV People's Kurultai, one of the delegates representing the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region proposed the abolition of the women's quota for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh.
He noted that “men who received eight or ten thousand votes remain outside the elections, giving way to candidates who gathered only one thousand or three thousand votes. This creates a feeling among men that participating in elections is pointless. In our region, there are female candidates who received more votes than men. This is quite possible,” he added. The delegate also suggested introducing a subject called “Iman sabagy” into the school curriculum.
